How Dear CFO works with QuickBooks
Connect in a minute
In Dear CFO, open Integrations → QuickBooks and click Connect to QuickBooks. Sign in with Intuit and pick the company. Running more than one set of books? Choose Add another QuickBooks company and see them together.
We read, never write
Dear CFO asks for QuickBooks Online accounting access and uses it read-only. It never creates, edits or deletes anything in your books. It reads accounts, invoices, bills, payments, journal entries and the general ledger, including the names, email addresses and phone numbers of your customers, vendors and employees.
Your numbers stay current
A full sync runs as soon as you connect, then every day, and whenever you press Sync Now. Financial statements are read from QuickBooks when you open them, so they match your books to the minute.
Turn them into answers
Your P&L, balance sheet and cash flow sit next to your plan. AP and AR aging come from your open bills and invoices. The financial model forecasts from your actuals, and the AI analyst answers questions about your books in plain English.

QuickBooks Online, for companies in the United States.
What else can I connect?

The QuickBooks connection
Will Dear CFO change anything in QuickBooks?
No. The connection is read-only: Dear CFO never creates, edits or deletes a transaction, account, customer or vendor in QuickBooks.
What data does it read?
Accounts, invoices, bills, payments, journal entries and the general ledger, including the names, email addresses and phone numbers of your customers, vendors and employees.
How often does it update?
A full sync runs when you first connect, then daily. Press Sync Now on the QuickBooks integration page for an immediate refresh. Financial statements are read from QuickBooks each time you open them.
Can I connect more than one QuickBooks company?
Yes. On the QuickBooks integration page, choose Add another QuickBooks company and sign in with Intuit for each one, then see several sets of books in one consolidated view.
My connection says it needs attention. What do I do?
Intuit occasionally asks for the connection to be re-approved. Click Connect to QuickBooks next to the company and sign in to Intuit again. Choose the same QuickBooks company. A different one is refused, so your history stays intact.
How do I disconnect QuickBooks?
In Dear CFO, open Integrations → QuickBooks and click Disconnect from QuickBooks. Dear CFO revokes its access with Intuit straight away. You can also remove the app from inside QuickBooks, under Apps → My apps.
Either way, syncing stops. Data already synced is kept so your history is there if you reconnect; to have it deleted, email support@dearcfo.com.
Does signing out of Dear CFO disconnect QuickBooks?
No. The connection belongs to your company, not your session, so it keeps syncing until someone clicks Disconnect from QuickBooks.
Your data
Where is my data stored, and how is it protected?
In Google Cloud, in the United States. It is encrypted in transit and at rest using Google Cloud's default encryption. Each company's data is kept in its own dataset, and access inside the application is controlled per company and per page. The details are in our privacy policy.
Is my data used to train AI?
We do not use your data to train our own models. The AI analyst is powered by Anthropic's Claude models, which process your data as our service provider under their commercial terms. If the specific terms matter to you, email support@dearcfo.com and we will tell you exactly what our agreement provides. See how the AI features use your data.
Can your staff see my data?
Yes: to support you, to diagnose a problem, and to do the finance work you have engaged us for. We limit who can, and log it.
How do I get my data deleted?
Email support@dearcfo.com from an administrator's address. We action deletion requests within 30 days. Backups age out on their own schedule, up to 400 days. Our privacy policy explains exactly what happens.
Your account
How do I sign in?
At app.dearcfo.com, with your email and password or your Google account. Forgotten your password? Use the reset link on the sign-in page.
How do I add teammates?
A company administrator can invite people from Settings → Team, and choose which pages each person can see.
I didn't receive my invitation email.
Invitations come from invites@dearcfo.com, so check your spam or quarantine folder. Still nothing? Ask your administrator to resend it, or email support@dearcfo.com.
