Direct messages
DM the app a question, such as "What was revenue last month?", and follow up in the same conversation.
Channels
@mention Dear CFO in a channel it has been added to. It answers in the thread, and whoever started the thread can keep asking without tagging it again.
Private answers
Type /dearcfo and your question for an answer only you can see. /dearcfo help lists what you can ask.
Charts and reports
Charts arrive as images, generated reports are uploaded into the thread, and "Open in Dear CFO" takes you to the full view.

Sign in to Dear CFO
You need a Dear CFO login with at least one data source connected, such as QuickBooks or Xero. New here? Sign up first. - 2
Add to Slack
Go to Integrations → Slack and click Add to Slack. Choose your workspace and approve the permissions. - 3
Get the welcome message
Dear CFO sends you a direct message that explains how to ask and where to find the settings. - 4
Choose who can ask
In Integrations → Slack → Data access, choose who can ask, which channels it answers in, what it can read, and whether names and contact details are hidden.
Who sees what
Dear CFO matches each person in Slack to their Dear CFO login by email address. Someone without a login, or without access to the company the workspace is connected to, gets a private message explaining how to get access, and no figures. Anyone with a login only gets answers from the data their Dear CFO permissions already cover. An answer in a channel is visible to everyone in that channel, so admins can limit Dear CFO to direct messages or to chosen channels.
What the app reads in Slack
The questions you send it, and the Slack user ID and email address of the person asking. It also receives messages in channels it has been added to, but only so it can spot a follow-up addressed to it. Any other message is discarded without being stored. It cannot read files you share in Slack. How we store and protect data is set out in our privacy policy.

How do I remove the app?
Remove Dear CFO from your workspace's app settings in Slack. We delete its Slack token straight away, and the Slack integration page in Dear CFO shows it as disconnected. To delete past conversations too, email support@dearcfo.com.

Answers are written by AI (Anthropic's Claude) from your connected data. Check important figures in Dear CFO before acting on them.
